Smiles in the Rockies is a new school-based dental screening program founded by Dr. Chris Frankmore, a pediatric dentist who recognized a gap: too many Colorado children miss critical oral health checkups because getting to a dentist is too hard for their families.
His solution is straightforward. Instead of asking families to come to the dentist, he brings the dentist to the school. Licensed pediatric dental professionals screen students on campus — catching cavities, bite issues, and gum disease early, when intervention is simplest.
The program is free for students, accepts Medicaid and private insurance, and requires nothing from schools except a room and a date. We're now enrolling partner schools for our first year.
